The CIS Council and the CIS Program Committee have been monitoring the ongoing course of the COVID-19 pandemic and the unfortunate trends that heighten concerns over safety and the need for physical distancing. After careful deliberation and taking into account the survey sent to the membership, the Leadership of CIS has made the decision to move the 2021 Annual Meeting to an all-virtual format, featuring a mix of pre-recorded, live streaming, and live question/answer sessions.
We felt it important to make this decision now in order to assure ample time to plan a high-quality meeting in a fully virtual format. While we are disappointed that we will not be able to see each other in St. Louis in April, we are committed to providing you with high quality and engaging sessions throughout the meeting.
The Program Committee is hard at work, developing a program that will provide all attendees with ample educational opportunities, along with the things that make the CIS Annual Meeting great: networking sessions, poster presentations, terrific science, and popular sessions like Tales from the Listserve and Hot New Defects. We look forward to sharing the program with you in the near future.
CIS will provide you with additional updates as work progresses on our new virtual format. In the meantime, mark your calendars to join us for the 2021 Virtual CIS Annual Meeting, April 14-17.
We look forward to seeing you virtually in April!
